Services have been held for Anthony M. Ruthkowski of Cedar who died April 7. He was 88.
He was born July 27, 1919. In 1950, he met and married Anne M. Ferski who survives.
In 1942, he left his job as a machinist in Muskegon to serve as an Army medic in Gen. George S. Patton’s Third Army during World War II. He landed at Normandy during the D-Day invasion and fought his way through Europe. He was a life member of Cherryland VFW Post 2780 in Traverse City. He and his wife moved to their home on Lake Leelanau in 1998 where he enjoyed fishing.
He is also survived by his sons, Joe (Debbie), Rick and Ron (Kathy), and other relatives.
