1920-2008
Visitation was scheduled for 10 a.m. and a service was slated for 11 a.m. today, May 1, at Holy Rosary Parish in Isadore, for Edward Joseph Skeba of Cedar who died April 27 at Grand Traverse Pavilions. He was 87.
He was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Cedar, the son of Frank and Sophia (Fleis) Skeba. On Sept. 4, 1944, at Holy Rosary Parish in Isadore, he married Marie M. Czerniak, who survives.
A life long member of Holy Rosary Parish, he farmed his land and also retired from Cone Drive Gear after 18 years of service. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. He was a devoted Pistons and Tigers fan, a member of the Cedar Chamber of Commerce, and loved to play euchre.
Also surviving are his two children, Betty Lou (Linus) Laskey and Edward Daniel (Ricarda) Skeba, both of Cedar; a brother, Clem Skeba; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Alice (Arthur) Adams and Gracie Skeba.
Burial was to be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Isadore. Memorials may be directed to the Leelanau County Commission on Aging.
