The purchase of a new ambulance was approved by the Glen Arbor Township Board during a special meeting last week.
Board members voted unanimously April 24 to purchase an ambulance from Life Line Emergency Vehicles of Sumner, Iowa at a cost not to exceed $175,000.
Life Line was one of two firms to respond to Glen Arbor Fire and Rescue’s request for proposals. The other was Braun Northwest of Chehalis, Wash.
Both bids were “very close” in price, Clerk Bonnie Quick said.
The $175,000 doesn’t include all of the equipment sought by the department. Another $25,000 for the additional equipment is being donated by the Glen Arbor Fire and Rescue Association, Quick said.
The new ambulance will replace the township’s 13-year-old model.
“We’ve been using Empire’s ambulance because it’s newer than the one we’re replacing,” Quick said.
