A Bingham Township man pleaded not guilty to two counts of malicious destruction of property in relation to an incident involving a friend.

Jason A. Blood, 34, 5188 Lake Leelanau Dr., Traverse City also pleaded not guilty to attempted interfering with an electronic communication device (a telephone), and to domestic violence. He is free on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to return to court tomorrow at 9 a.m. for a pretrial meeting.

According to court documents, on April 21 Blood damaged a Chevy Blazer and the residence of a friend on S. Lake Leelanau Drive. Blood also prevented the victim from using a telephone to call police and committed domestic violence against the friend, the documents allege.

All four charges are misdemeanors. If found guilty on either of the two malicious destruction of property charges, Blood faces a maximum penalty of up to one year in jail and up to $2,000 in fines, or three times the amount of damage done, whichever is greater. For the third charge, the maximum is up to one year in jail and up to $500 in fines. The fourth charge maximum is up to 93 days in jail and or up to $500 in fines.
