National Park Service rangers will continue their weekly "Saturdays at the Lakeshore" hikes this month.

RANGER JOANNE DeJonge answers a
question from a young hiker during a
recent “Saturdays in the Lakeshore”
event at the Sleeping Bear Dunes
National Lakeshore.
Each Saturday at 1 p.m., visitors can gather at the park Visitor Center in Empire to meet with rangers who introduce a topic and then lead a car caravan a short distance to where a walk will begin. Each week, a different topic and location of the park will be featured, including:
May 10: “The World of Frogs.”
May 17: “Hike to a Beaver Lodge.”
May 24: “A Flurry of Wildflowers.”
May 31: “Returning Birds.”
Participants need only purchase the park entrance pass or have an annual pass to participate in the hikes. Reservations are not required but are suggested for groups.
More information is available by calling 326-5134, extension 328, or at www.nps.gov/slbe online.
