The Bingham Township Planning Commission decided last week that new zoning ordinance language designed to enhance "agritourism" in the township will be ready for a public hearing next month.
Township zoning administrator Steve Patmore said the proposed zoning ordinance amendment addresses changes throughout Bingham Township’s agriculture district and includes new language outlining requirements for agricultural businesses as well as agricultural tourism.
The public hearing has been scheduled for the Planning Commission’s next regular monthly meeting, slated for 6:30 p.m., June 5 at the Bingham Township Hall.
Patmore explained that a second public hearing will also be held at the meeting – on a relatively minor “housekeeping” change to the zoning ordinance making it official that land use permits expire after one year.
Also at next month’s meeting, Bingham planners may consider a site plan amendment for the Pathways residential development off Revold Road involving the shifting of some lot lines, Patmore said. In addition, planners may consider a request from a property owner on Fort Road who wants to operate an art gallery from her residence.
