A spate of second-place finishes continued for the St. Mary golf team, which was runnerup Monday at a triangular meet held at Leland Country Club.
Kingsley edged the Eagles by one stroke, but Bradford Schaub of St. Mary took medalist honors with a 40. Kingsley finished with a score of 177, with St. Mary (178) and Manistee Catholic Central (183) close behind.
Miles Guy of Kingsley and Nick Kolanowski of Manistee Catholic each shot 41 to tie for second place.
In the Eagles’ last five matches, they have posted one victory and four second-place finishes.
The other top scorers for St. Mary were Michael Pendergast (43), Tyler Shaffran (46) and Adam Peplinski (49). Freshmen Aaron Joliffe (48) and Jacob Sterkenberg (49) also broke 50, but their scores did not count toward the team total.
St. Mary was scheduled to host The Leelanau School and Traverse City Central’s “B” team yesterday, May 8, and play in an invitational hosted by Traverse City Central Friday. In addition, the Eagles will play Saturday at the St. Francis Invitational, and Monday at the Benzie Invitational.
