Leland to stage musical 'Annie'

The Leland Public School drama department will present the musical Annie over two weekends, beginning May 16.

The original Broadway production of Annie won numerous awards in its initial run in the 1970s. The Leland school production features Delaney Klein and Annalise Robinson in the title role. Marty Mugerian and Ben Hughes will share the role of Daddy Warbucks, and Juliana Lisuk and Katherine Miller will play Miss Hannigan.

The Leland production has a cast of 70 students from Leland and St. Mary School. Popular songs from them musical include Hard Knock Life and Tomorrow. The musical will be performed at 7 p.m. on May 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25, and at a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, May 24. All performances will be in the Performing Arts Center at Leland Public School.

Tickets are $8 for adults, and $5 for students and children. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 256-9857 or at the door.
