Services were held Saturday in Traverse City for Edith L. Robbins of Twin Lake and formerly of Empire who died April 29 in Muskegon. She was 76.
She was born Oct. 23, 1931, in Traverse City, the daughter of Chester and Phoebe (Durga) Haywood. On July 1, 1949, in Long Lake Township, she married James E. Robbins Sr., who preceded her in death.
She had worked at Montgomery Wards in Traverse City, Moore’s Drugstore and Pat’s Grill. She had also worked at both taverns in Empire. She loved the outdoors, especially mushrooming, hunting and fishing, and enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by her children, Christine (Robert) Dykema of Twin Lake, James (Sandra) Robbins Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Lisa (Larry) Armstrong of Twin Lake; her sisters, Kathryn (Robert) Hall of Traverse City and Helen Corrado of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Faron.
Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family or to the Empire Fire Department.
