The first of 10 people who are part of the 2008 artist in residence program through the Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) will give a presentation tonight, May 15.
Artist Victor Pytko is in the second week of his residency. The Birmingham artist, whose works have been exhibited for 40 years, will attempt to reconcile the differences between representation and abstraction in his work during the residency.
The purpose of residency program is to “give artists a respite from daily responsibilities for a couple of uninterrupted weeks of artistic concentration,” the GAAA said. The GAAA also provides living quarters and studio space and near the end of each residency the artist makes a public presentation.
The presentation begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the GAAA, 6000 Pine St., Glen Arbor. For more information, visit www.glenarborart.org.
