3-foot bunny statue missing from home

Jackie Freeman and the Suttons Bay Village Police are looking for Mr. Bunny.

Mr. Bunny is three-foot high composite material statue of a rabbit that has been standing in front of Freeman’s home on Race Street, also known as M-204, in Suttons Bay.

Sometime between the evening on May 7 and the morning of May 9, Mr. Bunny disappeared.

Police chief Del Moore said Mr. Bunny has some unique visual features that will differentiate it from other three-foot tall rabbit lawn statutes. “He has a turquoise coat, yellow pants and is wearing a colonial tricorner, a type of cap worn in colonial times,” he said.

Moore said the statue is a family keepsake with sentimental value, adding that Freeman is offering a $50 reward for anyone with information that leads to the return of Mr. Bunny. He said Freeman is hopeful the statue will be returned unharmed.

Freeman said Mr. Bunny has been a part of her family for many years.

“It’s upsetting that someone had to walk all the way up to my arbor to take him. It wasn’t like he was just standing by the side of the road,” she said.

Anyone with information on what happened with Mr. Bunny should call Freeman at 342-8792.
