1918-2008

A funeral service was held Monday in Grandville for former Maple City resident Philip John Tobin of Kentwood who died May 9. He was 89.

He was born in Kasson Township on Nov. 6, 1918, the son of Philip and Nellie Tobin. His wife of 66 years, the former Isabelle Glazier, survives.

He was a former member of Wealthy Street Baptist Church and retired from General Motors in 1984 after 34 years of service.

Also surviving are his children, Daniel (Susan) Tobin, Gene (Ann) Tobin, Thomas (Toni) Tobin, Liz (Edward) Rockinger, Connie (George) Marsh, Bonnie (Donald) Stephens, and Deborah Geiger; a sister, Marjory Yarnaros; 21 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.
