1929-2008

Services were held Saturday in Suttons Bay for Gladys Alice Atkinson of Suttons Bay who died May 13 at Munson Medical Center. She was 78.

She was born May 15, 1929, in Detroit, the daughter of Edward Dooge and Gladys Bartels. On Dec. 20, 1947, in Detroit, she married Robert Henry Atkinson, who preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 2007.

She retired to northwestern lower Michigan after 30 years of service with Chrysler Automotive as a department supervisor. She and her husband enjoyed many years of traveling and sightseeing.

She is survived by her son, Robert Thomas (Joy) Atkinson of Lake Ann; two daughters, Cynthia (Gerald) Danaj of Suttons Bay and Suzann (James) Brewington of Suttons Bay; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by a sister, Selma Skiba; and a brother, Edward Dooge.
