Glen Lake News

Once again, I am a roving reporter. We have been to Chicago, a horse museum in Lexington, Ky., followed the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky (forced to do a lot of tasting), did some real tourist

stuff and actually went to Dollywood, which is not as bad as the Wisonsin Dells, and visited
Ruby Falls and Rock City. I never thought in a million years I would go to these places, but it was interesting and kind of fun people-watching.

We are now overlooking a lake in Georgia that is very muddy, and as spoiled as we are by our lakes, I wouldn’t even put a boat in this body of water. But, the locals think it is great. Boy, do I sound like a snob.

Speaking of our lakes, got a call about two white pelicans sighted in Little Glen.

Hopefully, the clean-up day at the Empire Museum went well. It’s a great place to visit and take visitors interested in local history. The museum will hold its next meeting on Thursday, May 29 at 1 p.m. After the meeting, there will be a training session for new volunteers and a refresher for returning volunteers.

The Glen Lake Community Church is having a yard and bake sale on May 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All the proceeds will go to the Youth Outreach Program.

Big weekend coming up. Get ready for the crowds and everything will be open, then Tuesday it will be back to slow for another couple of weeks. But then, Fudgies, you gotta love them.
Without them, what would our town be like?

The Tour De Leelanau is Sunday. It’s a bunch of fun and a truly outstanding race. Don’t miss it.

Go Sox.
