1918-2008

A memorial service was held in Minnesota last week for former Northport resident Eunice (Stromgren) Johnson who died May 21. She was 90.

She was born on May 20, 1918, in Constance, Minn. On June 9, 1943, she married Philip Johnson, who preceded her in death in December 2003.

She and her husband served several Covenant churches in Minnesota and Wisconsin before moving to Northport in 1961 where he served as pastor of Northport Covenant Church for 15 years. They returned to Northport upon retirement in 1984.

She is survived by two sons, David (Marilyn) Johnson and Richard (Susan) Johnson of Minneapolis; three daughters, Jeanne (Charles) Gembis of Spring Lake, Lila (Jim) Hatch and Christine Johnson of Traverse City; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
