The theme for this year's installment of The Friends of the Leelanau Township Library summer lecture series is Telling Our Stories.
To help launch the series, the group has brought in H. Porter Abbott, a professor at the University of California-Santa Barbara, who will discuss story telling at the library on Tuesday staring at 7:30 p.m.
According to Friends member Susan Landes, Abbott has taught and written about autobiographies, and in general the literature of the 19th and 20th centuries. His presentation is titled Introduction to Story-Telling.
The summer series is a weekly feature sponsored by the group that is held on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. in the township library in Northport.

• July 8 — Kathleen Craker Firestone, Stories For Our Grandchildren.
• July 15 — John Mitchell, Great Lakes Boat Stories.
• July 22 — Elizabeth Buzzelli, Scaring Ourselves with Stories!
• July 29 — Poetry Night, Stories and Fragments in Verse.
