A hole-in-one at The Leelanau Club at Bahle Farms highlighted golf action at courses in Leelanau County in the last week.
Linda Drettmann of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., aced the 79-yard 11th hole at The Leelanau Club Friday, June 20. She used a 9-iron and shot a 102.

The Women’s League at the Dunes Golf Club held a “blind partners” event June 18, with Aline Getchell and Evelyn Freeman taking top honors. Paula Stewart and Toni Stewart finished in second, and finishing in a three-way tie for third place were Dorothy Baker and Dorothy Manning, Ellie Giffen and Kathy Brodhagen, and Mary Reich and Joyce Stockman.
The Thursday morning ladies 18-hole league played a game of “Mutt & Jeff” at The Leelanau Club June 19. Scores for par 3’s and par 5’s were added, and the winners were Mary Valpey in Flight A, Ann Schwarze in Flight B, and Nancy Canfield in Flight C.
The Tuesday morning women’s league gathered at Sugar Loaf The Old Course June 17 and played a contest in which the worst holes on each nine were thrown out and replaced with a par. Christine Green won Flight A with a 78, and Merle Skinner and Hattie Townsend shot 84 to share second place. Cara Cassard had an 80 to win Flight B, with Doreen Dean second at 83.5. The Flight C winner was Polly DeFaria.
Junior golfers played 3-hole, 6-hole and 9-hole matches at Leland Country Club Monday, June 23. The 9-hole scores were: Reed McCallister (37), Mitchell Becker (38), Ben Carter (53), Derek Rohs (60), Clare Schaljo and Sarah Watkins (61), William Watkins (64), John VanRaalte (68), and Will Saffell (80). The 6-hole scores were: Hope Schaljo (45), Kyle Cavanaugh and Patrick Rohs (46), and Michael Conder (53). The 3-hole scores were: Kevin Conder (17), Joe Boesel (20), Kory Cavanaugh (21), Maggie Carter and Miah McCallister (24), and Roger Crimmins (29).
An advertisement published in last week’s Enterprise that congratulated the Suttons Bay High School team for reaching the state tournament left off the names of team members Conor Loberg, Ben Walters and Adam Wodek.
