Northport Band's concert in G-A provides lively prelude to holiday

One didn't have to look any further than Eric Liesman to see if the Northport Community Band's annual concert in Glen Arbor was a hit Sunday afternoon.

S-M Parish Festival, Chicken Dinner is July 13

The 84th annual St. Mary Parish Festival and Chicken Dinner will be held Sunday, July 13.
Brian Krombeen and Dave Fortner are the chairpersons for the event, which raises thousands of dollars each year for St. Mary School.

Artist exhibitions begin

Lake Street studios in Glen Arbor will host a new, one-person exhibition each week throughout the summer beginning this month.

Benefit car wash set

Leelanau County's Relay for Life "Team Kohler" will hold a car wash Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot at Suttons Bay Elementary School.

Christian Science lecture set

God is Speaking to You is the title of a Christian Science lecture to be given by educator Elise Moore, C.S.B. (Christian Science Board) today, July 10 at the Glen Arbor Township Hall.
The 8 p.m. talk is sponsored by First Church of Christ, Scientist in Glen Arbor.

Kehl walk to have a patriotic focus

Leelanau Conservancy docent Bobbie Poor will watch for the colors of the Stars and Stripes in a "Read, White and Blue" walk at the Kehl Natural Area today, July 3, at 10 a.m.

A flurry of festive activities in county

Jean Sedlacek is having about 40 relatives and friends over to her Leland Township home Friday afternoon and evening.
There will be plenty of food and beverages, a new enclosed porch, and her own fireworks display to kick off what she hopes will be a festive Fourth of July holiday weekend.

The Garthe family operated the Log Cabin restaurant on a west-facing Lake Michigan bluff near Northport from 1920 to 1953. It will be one six log buildings featured in the Northport Women’s Club home tour next month.
