David and Doris Sterrett observed their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday at a celebration hosted by their children on Lake Leelanau and attended by family and friends.

David and Doris Sterrett were married July 3,1948

David Sterrett and the former Doris McKirby were married July 3, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. I. N. DePuy.

Mr. Sterrett was employed by National Cash Register Co., in Dayton prior to the couple’s move to Michigan in 1973 when they made their home in Leelanau County. He is also a retired Realtor, and Mrs. Sterrett is a homemaker and a former teacher’s aide in Ohio and Leland.

The couple’s children include Doug (Merrily) Sterrett of Gaylord; Donna (Paul) Bales of Beavercreek, Ohio; Dale (Sharon) Sterrett of Williamsburg; and Diane (Dennis) Hedden of Pensacola, Fla. The Sterretts also have six grandchildren, six step-grandsons, four great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.
