1926-2008
A memorial service was held July 12 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Suttons Bay for Einer Peterson of Suttons Bay who died July 8 at Munson Medical Center. He was 82.
He was born Jan. 4, 1926, in Traverse City, to Lucille and Paulus Peterson. His wife of 53 years, Carolyn, preceded him in death.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching and a master’s degree in soil science at Michigan State University before taking his first teaching position in Hart. After marrying, he returned to Suttons Bay where he continued teaching and farming. He established an apple farm and held teaching positions in Leland and Northport. After his school retirement, he managed farms for Frigid Farms for 10 years and then worked summers at the MSU Horticultural Research Station.
He is survived by his three daughters, Beth Peterson of Interlochen, Mary Peterson of Traverse City, and Julia (Randall) Perrin of Grawn; one sister, Nathalie Ensrud of Illinois and Glen Arbor; a half sister, Jeannie Peterson; half brothers Mark and Paul Peterson; and five grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lisa Catherine.
