It's safe to drink the water in Empire.
Shortly before noon on July 16, the Village of Empire's water system was declared clean, according to village Department of Public Works supervisor Leonard Shalda. The announcement came six days after a boil water advisory was declared, and at deadline for the Leelanau Enterprise. The newspaper's headline read, "Day 6, and still no safe drinking water in Empire."
