Ludwig van Beethoven will be the featured composer for the Traverse Symphony Orchestra's next two SummerNights performances this weekend.
The orchestra will perform a "Beethoven's Favorites" program featuring two of the German composer's most requested compositions: Symphony No. 5 and the Emperor piano concerto. The program will open with Overture to Fidelio.
The concerts will be held Friday and Saturday at the City Opera House in Traverse City and start at 8 p.m. both days. Pianist Aviram Reichert will perform with the orchestra for the Emperor piece. Reichert was a bronze medal winner at the 10th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and is the artist-in-residence at Grand Valley State University.
