Glen Lake's girls track team finished fourth out of 12 teams at the Central Lake Invitational Monday.
Senior Amber Therrien paced the Lakers with a first-place finish in the 1600 in 5:47. She also placed third in the 3200 in 12:54.
Another strong performance of note came from sophomore Dani Frost, who was fourth in both shot put and discus with throws of 32’5.5” and 88’4”, respectively.
Senior Abbie Christiansen placed fourth in the long jump (14’ 5.5”), and was also a member of the 400-meter relay team that was rounded out by Victoria Pecak, Lauren Garver and Anna Brown that placed fifth in 55.26.
The 800-meter relay team that included Pecak, Garver, Brown and sophomore Melissa Schopieray was third with a time of 1:59. Brown was fourth in pole vault at 7’6”. Pecak and teammate Nadine Gilmer had sixth-place finishes — Gilmer in distance; Pecak, in sprints.
Pecak ran the 100 in 13.69, while Gilmer ran the 1600 in just over 6 minutes.
The Laker boys finished ninth of 11 schools at the invitational.
John Lee continued to stand out for Glen Lake in the long jump with a distance of 17’, 11/2”. Tony Weinke was sixth in the 300 hurdles in 50.54, and senior Mike Keim was eighth in the 800 (2:23).
The Lakers’ next meet is the regional at Frankfort on Saturday. They’ll also be at a Northwest Conference next Wednesday in Kingsley.
A win in a triangular meet and a second-place finish in a 6-team invitational has vaulted the St. Mary golf team three spots in the state rankings.
