SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES and other local law enforcement officers participated in a drill at the Leelanau County Government Center. For many officers, it was their first look inside the new facility, slated to open in February. The drill called on officers to clear rooms through the facility as they searched for a criminal "shooter" somewhere inside the building, portrayed by Village of Suttons Bay police chief Del Moore. Several teams from all local law enforcement agencies participated, including officers from the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, Michigan State Police and the National Park Service. The team pictured consisted of Leelanau County Sheriff's Deputies (from left) Mary Patterson, training officer Mike Bankey, Rocky Cadieux, Scott Robinson and Ev Bowen.
