The Great Lakes Children’s Museum in Greilickville is holding Museum Mitten Days Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will begin each day with story time at 11 a.m., when museum educator Ann Drake will read The Mitten by Jan Brett, a Ukrainian folktale about a boy who lost his mitten. After story time children can make a mitten, complete with the animals from the story, to take home.
From 1 to 3 p.m., Mitten Days will continue with a scavenger hunt in which children will be asked to find each letter of the alphabet. The children will also go through the pages of the alphabet book M is for Mitten to learn about the Michigan “mitten” and participate in “mitts-on” activities.
Admission to the museum, which is located at 13240 S. West Bayshore Dr., is $6 per person for everyone 2 years of age and older, and free for children under 2. For more information, call the museum at 932-4526 or visit www.GreatLakesKids.org.
