Winter fishing contest may not be on ice

MEMBERS OF the Glen Lake Fire Department donned their cold water exposure suit Saturday to respond to a call for a deer that had fallen through the ice on Glen Lake. While not an ordinary department rescue, incidents such as these help to prevent loss of human life as well-intentioned citizens may venture onto unable ice out of concern for the wildlife, endangering themselves. Football is officially over for the season, but the Super Bowl was a really good game. The halftime entertainment was OK as half times go. The ads were interesting and some of them entertaining, but the bottom line is the season is over. Buck up fans, there is always hockey and if necessary, round ball.

It’s winter, we need snow and winter stuff. I did see an ice fisherman on Little Glen on Saturday, brave soul.

It could be that this year’s fishing contest sponsored by The Sportsman Shop held on Saturday the 18th will be won by someone fishing from a boat. Also this might be the first year that Bob Ewing doesn’t have to blow off the deck at Boone Dock’s in order to make room for the Chili Cook-off. We will see.

This might be another year that the Polar Dip becomes a polar run. The dips will have to run into Lake Michigan rather that jumping in Bar Lake through the ice, it’s happened before.

The weather is so confusing, that the snow birds don’t know where to go.

Happy Birthday wishes to Tim Barr, Michael Buhler and to Merek Roman.

Guys do yourselves a favor and don’t forget Valentines Day on the 14th.

Congratulations Bean on another straight A report card. Keep up the good work.

Condolences to Bill and Sue Kroeger on the loss of their daughter.

You don’t see many people around at this time unless there is a controversial meeting. Where do you all go.

Go Hawks.
