Daytime thefts reported in county
Deputies are investigating a series of daytime home break-ins resulting in losses to the owners.
Detective Bob Bailey said six to eight of these break-ins have been reported over the past several months.
The suspects enter the homes — both locked and unlocked — and have taken cash, jewelry, electronics and firearms, Bailey said.
“We’d like the public to keep their eyes open for suspicious vehicles or behavior,” he said. “If someone has had a ‘solicitor’ come to their home and it didn’t make sense, we’d also like to speak with them.”
Break-ins have been reported all over the county — from Northport to Elmwood and Cedar to Empire.
Losses to some home owners have been in the thousands of dollars.
Anyone with information which could help the investigation is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 256- 8800. You may remain anonymous.
