Gerald L. Stuber 1923-2012

Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Wed., July 25 in Traverse City for Gerald L. Stuber of Traverse City who died July 8 at Tendercare-Birchwood in Traverse City.

He was 88.

Gerald was born Nov. 18, 1923 to the late Jesse and Mae (Harris) Stuber in Mount Pleasant, Mich. He married the former Mary Lou Miller in 1948 in the rectory of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Mount Pleasant.

Beginning his career as a mechanic in the oil fields, Geraldn was exempt from military service as his work was essential to the war effort. He late became an auto mechanic. In his spare time he enjoyed watching TV, camping and going on drives with his wife.

Gerland is surviced by his wife, Mary Lou; and their children Gerald (Margaret) of Texas, Mark of Traverse City, Joanne (Ted) Gray of Waterford, Mich., Karl of Mackinac Island, Patrician (Matt) Wilson of Downingtown, Pa., Eric (Brooke) of Lansing, Barbara Stuber of Haslett, Tyron (Jodi) of Weidman and Pamela (Tony) Stuber-Coble of Okemos. Also surviving are five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and his brother, John.

He was preceded in death by his prents and siblings Elizabeth, Ebert, Elouise, Betty and Everett.

Funeral services will be held next Wednesday at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral home. Burial will be in St. Philip Neri Cemetery in Empire. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to HopeWell Ranch, 650 N. School Road, Weidman, MI 48893, a nonprofit organization run by his son, Tyrone, to help those with emotional, spiritual and physical needs through riding, care and interaction with rescued horses; or to the St. Francis Food Pantry.
