Running Bear events Tuesday
The Glen Arbor Women’s Club will host its sixth annual Running Bear 5K run, walk and half mile kids’ run on Tuesday.
The popular family fun event, which starts at the corner of Lake and State streets about 9 a.m., drew over 700 adults and children last year.
The 5K event is open to everyone. You can run or walk.
The half mile walk for younger children will start at 9:05 a.m. Each child will receive a ribbon, an ice cream cone from Riverfront Pizza & Specialties and a miniature golf pass from The River.
The event will end up back at Cherry Republic for an “After Race Celebration.”
Awards will be given to the top male and female finish and the first and second place finishers in nine different age groups.
There will be lots of great food and a drawing for prizes. The prizes include get-a-way weekends, dinners from local restaurants, and prizes from many area merchants.
All proceeds from the event will go towards local scholarships and community improvement.
Entry fee is $15 for the 5K Run/ Walk prior to race day and $18 the day of the run. Entry fee is $5 for the half miler.
Registration forms are available at Cherry Republic and The Glen Arbor Athletic Club in Glen Arbor and Running Fit and Cherry Republic in Traverse City.
