Robinsons observe 60-year anniversary

Patty and Gerry Robinson of Cleveland Township celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary yesterday.

The couple were married Aug. 1, 1952 at St. Patrick’s Church in Parnell.

Gerry taught vocal music for 34 years before retiring from Mount Clemens High School in 1983. He also ran the driver’s education program and sold real estate.

Patty (Heffron) was a church choir director and organist and a substitute teacher at Mount Clemens High School. Gerry also helped Patty with the choir.

“Love, music, popcorn, faith, children, happiness, sorrow, friends. But not in that order,” Gerry listed the ingredients of a 60-year marriage.

The couple had eight children, however, a son Paul is deceased. The children include: Michael P. (Gretchen Rose) Robinson, of Cedar and Mt. Clemens; Mary R. (Daniel) Pastor of Parnell; Barbara S. (Daniel Vicary) Robinson of Algonac; William B. (Cheryl) Robinson of Cedar; Joan M. (Patrick) Pointer of Manistee; Elaine P. (George) Hommowun of Warrenton, Va.; John G. (Sarah) Robinson of Warrenton, Va; and Peter T. (Regina Daly) Robinson of Boulder, Colo.

The Robinson’s also have 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
