Although we have been through a lot of them, I am never ready for this time of year. It seems like summer just got started and here it is almost over.

The athletes are going back to school and the out-of-state kids will be starting in a couple of weeks. This has been an outstanding summer up to this point and I am certain it will continue.

Get well wishes to Jerry Hodge who has been having a tough time.

This week’s winner of the Empire Lions Club Lucky Thirteen drawing was Kent Kelly, congratulations.

I understand that the rip currents were really tough at Empire Beach on Sunday the 4th. I think everyone was safe however.

The Friends of the Glen Lake Community Library are conducting their annual book sale at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. Tonight till 7 p.m., the book sale which is open to the public and there is no charge. Tomorrow, from 9 a.m. to noon is Bag Day. Fill a standard grocery bag full of books for $5.

Happy Anniversary wishes to Joanne and Jack Strobel and to Nancy and Bill Batterson.

Tomorrow and Saturday is the Port Oneida Fair, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rural Historic District. Tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m. a chicken dinner and silent auction will be held at the Olson Farm, and on Saturday at 8 p.m. a star gazing at the Thorson Farm.

All our company is gone and it is very quiet at our house. It is more fun having a little chaos.

A lot of summer left, and we are getting to the locals part of the summer, enjoy.

Go Sox.
