County 4-Hers do well at the Fair

Dozens of youngsters from Leelanau County participated in a variety of 4-H activities during the Northwestern Michigan Fair in Grand Traverse County.

Ten of the locals took 11 top awards with their animal projects at the fair, which ran from Aug. 4 through Saturday.

Award winners were:

• Kary Pleva who won 4-H Reserve Showmanship and 4-H Reserve Market honors for her dairy feeder.

• Emmalyne Tarsa who won 4-H Grand Market honors for her lamb.

• Bridget Thoreson who won 4-H Reserve Market honors for her lamb.

• Amanda Lodge who won 4-H Reserve Showmanship honors overall for her goat.

• Jaylynn Fritz who won 4-H Reserve Market honors for her meat goat.

• Amanda Lodge who won 4-H Grand Showmanship honors for her pack goat.

• Natalie Burns who won 4-H Reserve Showmanship honors for her pack goat.

• Krystal Sheffer who won 4-H Grand Showmanship honors for her rabbits.

• Brittany Hobbins who won 4-H Reserve Market honors for her turkeys.

• Nicholas Tarsa who won 4-H Grand Showmanship honors for his llamas and alpacas.

• Skylar Gleason who won 4-H Reserve Showmanship honors for llamas and alpacas.
