Vintners around Leelanau County must have felt some déjà vu when reading results from the state wine competition. That’s because the link sent to the Enterprise from a promotion specialist with the Michigan Grape and Wine Industry Council went to the wrong year.

We’re publishing the 2012 results below, with our apologies to all associated with the wine industry in Leelanau County.

County wines took four of six “best of” class honors at the 2012 Michigan Wine and Spirit Competition this month in East Lansing.

Chateau Fontaine’s 2011 Pino Blanc was judged the best of the dry white wines and earned a double gold medal along with Blustone Vineyard’s 2011 Riesling. Both wineries are located near Lake Leelanau.

In the dry red class Shady Lane Cellars was best with their 2010 Blue Franc.

L. Mawby’s Blanc de Blanc was named best sparkling wine. Mawby also received the judges’ merit award for its Blanc de Noirs.

In the fruit wine category Chateau de Leelanau’s cherry wine was tops in its class.
