THE LATE Basil Antenucci will be honored Friday with a community dedication of the kitchen at the Leelanau Children’s Center in Northport — Basil’s Kitchen. The Leelanau Children’s Center (LCC) is honoring their late friend Basil Antenucci with a community dedication of the kitchen at the LCCNorthport — Basil’s Kitchen — Friday.
There will be a community open house from 4:30 to 6:30 and a dedication at 5:30 p.m.
When Antenucci passed away last summer, LCC was determined to keep his name and legacy alive. Board members wanted children to say his name, tell stories about him and feel the legacy he left behind. Antenucci had a passionate commitment to his community and played a very important role in establish LCC-Northport. Naming the kitchen after him seemed appropriate as he was known to be an avid cook and to nourish the lives of those he touched. Antenucci was a successful fundraiser for anything he believed in, including the work of LCC. In true Basil spirit, LCC is raising funds with the naming of the kitchen to help pay a portion of the loan incurred by renovations done to improve the facility at LCC—Northport, including a kitchen remodel.
Just recently a philanthropic family has issued a challenge grant; agreeing to match every dollar raised for Basil’s Kitchen. To receive the challenge match, LCC needs to raise $75,000.
Donations may be sent to LCCNorthport, 164 S. High St., Northport, MI 49670.
