Theodore J. Schaub 1925-2012
Private family services were held in Suttons Bay for Theodore J. Schaub, of Bingham Township, who died Aug. 14 at Tendercare of Leelanau.
He was 87.
Ted was born April 28, 1925 with his twin sister Rosaline Kiessel, the son of August and Clara (Harp) Schaub in Lake Leelanau.
After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific, he returned to the Grand Traverse area where he worked for the noted author Harold Titus on his Old Mission fruit farm while attending fruit school.
On Feb. 27, 1954 he married the former Pauline Rattray at St. Michael Church in Suttons Bay. Ted was a cherry farmer for about 60 years and a hard worker.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline, his children, Ed of Traverse City, Carol of Suttons Bay, and Kathleen (John) Scott of Grand Rapids; five sisters, Dorothy Reicha, Leona Salisbury, Mildred Jarvis, Irene (Jim) Hawkins, Gladys (Paul) Dover; three brothers, Willard Schaub, Albert Schaub and Ralph (Josie Hanna) Schaub; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister, an infant sister Francis, daughter Nancy Stusick, sonin law William Stusick and his infant son Joseph.
Memorials may be directed to Mass intentions. The family is being served by the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.
