It is Bridge walk time. The other bridge walk in Michigan. On Labor Day the Glen Lake Bridge walk will start at noon on the North side of the bridge in front of On the Narrows Marina.

As always, the Glen Lake Emergency Services will lead us off and every one can walk, jog, crawl, skip, limp, or any other way you prefer the entire bridge from Glen Arbor to Empire, .3 miles. Then continue to McCahill’s Landing Dairy Bar for lunch and ice cream treats.

Just have fun. Collector T-shirts are now available at Dune Dogs, Art’s T-shirt shop and Roman Jones in Empire. The T-shirts are the same price they have been since the beginning, $15 with the proceeds going to Cub Scout Pack 111.

It has been a tremendous summer and it isn’t over yet.

It looks like fences to keep people off of some folk’s beaches are not enough and now there are going to be fences on the lake. Go figure.

The seventh annual Buckets of Rain fundraiser will be held on the deck at Boonedocks on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 3-6 p.m. The music will be provided by Sour Mash and The Usual Suspects.

The proceeds go to maintain and expand urban vegetable garden projects in Detroit, San Antonio and Guatemala. Extreme urban gardening techniques will be on display.

Happy Birthday wishes to Bob Turner, John Shanklin, Tom Pezetti, Joan Thompson and John Soderholm.

Traverse City artist Joan Richmond will be displaying paintings tomorrow through Thursday, Sept. 13. There will be a reception on Friday starting at 6 p.m. at the gallery. For more information call 334-3179.

Condolences to Bob Turner and his family on the loss of Bob’s father.

If anyone has an idea as to how the Glen Lakes were named, let me know. Our local historian Mr. Taghon is working on this also, someone will know.

Happy Anniversary wishes to Bubba and Roger Popa of Petosky Pete’s and to Cheryl and Pat Barry.

Go Sox and Bears.
