Three artists sign Sunday at Cottage Book Shop
Three artists will be at a book signing Sunday at the Cottage Book Shop in Glen Arbor.
The 1 p.m. event will feature Lynne Rae Perkins of Suttons Bay, Hank Feely of Glen Arbor and Lois Beardslee of Maple City.
Perkins has illustrated a new children’s book entitled Seed By Seed: The Legend and Legacy of John “Appleseed” Chapman by Esme Raji Codell.
This book pays homage to the reasons why 200 years later Americans still remember this folk hero who traveled hundreds of miles by foot and canoe to plant apple trees, changing the country’s landscape forever.
Woven in the words and illustrations are important conservation messages and encouragement to children to plant their own seeds to make a difference in the world.
Feely will be signing his book of paintings of familiar landmarks in the Sleeping Bear area. Painting the Magic of Sleeping Bear Country has been this summer’s bestseller. His often humorous handwritten commentary of the influence of these sites adds to their uniqueness. Find Tim Barr floating in the sky above Art’s Tavern and discover the true story of The Cottage Book Shop.
Beardslee, Native American author and artists, will be demonstrating quill work and birch bark cutting in the Pine Patch at the Cottage Book Shop, also at 1 p.m.
