Bay Theatre film series covers the globe
The Bay Theatre of Suttons Bay starts its 2012-2013 Bay Film Series, a diverse collection of films from eight different countries, starts Sunday, Sept. 16.
The first film is “A Separation (Iran),” an Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Language Film.
The series, which runs the gamut of heartwarming comedy, compelling drama, dynamic dance, innocent adventure, riveting reality, runs through April. Subscriptions are $50 for the eight films.
Other films in the series include: “The Intouchables” (France), the feelgood comedy, Oct. 14-16; “Pina” (Germany), a breathtaking dance documentary, Nov. 11-13; “I Wish” (Japan), a story of childhood innocence, Dec. 9-11; “5 Broken Cameras” (Israel/ Palestine), a gripping documentary of non-violent resistance in a West Bank village, Jan. 13-15, 2013; and “Shun Li and the Poet” (Italy), a delicate story of a Chinese immigrant in Italy, Feb. 10-12.
Two additional titles will be announced for next spring. The Bay Film Series is a non-profit group.
