Services were held in Traverse City for Dorothy Elaine Phelps of Cedar who died Aug. 23 at Munson Medical Center.

She was 84.

Dorothy was born Oct. 31, 1927 in Highland Park to George and Lola (Mc- Cormick) Timerson. She graduated from Redford High School and went on to study interior design at Wayne State University.

On June 28, 1947, she married Theodore Lee Phelps in Redford.

Dorothy worked for more than 20 years as the secretary to the mayors of Garden City. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, reading, boating, music and cooking.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Theodore; daughters, Diane Elaine (Timothy) Anest of Redford, Bonnie Lee Davio of Dunedin, Fla., Barbara Lynn (Ronald) White of Lake Ann and Hally Susan (Barry) Ryan of Howell; and two grandsons.
