Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, Aug. 30 at the Kewadin Indian Mission church Tabernacle for Joseph Charles “Chewman” Wilson who died Sat., Aug. 25 at Munson Medical Center.

He was 35.

Chewman was born May 24, 1977 in Traverse City, the son of Ernest Chippewa and Nancy Wilson.

Chewman had a big heart and always put everyone before himself. He was always ready to help those in need. Chewman excelled at math and loved to teach his nieces and nephews; enjoyed participating in all sports and loved doing Sudoku puzzles.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy; siblings, Douglas Wilson, Delora Wilson, Coral Bennett and Veronica Wilson all of Traverse City; many nieces and nephews; and one great niece and two great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother Robert Wilson.

The funeral service is at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Kewadin Indian Mission Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.
