ROGER H. COVERT


Died Aug. 25, 2012 Died Aug. 25, 2012 NORTHPORT – Roger H. Covert of 629 Plum Lane, Northport and recently of 856 Lakewood Lane, Marquette, died Saturday, Aug. 25 at the age of 84.

Roger served in the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant with several outstanding units including the 24th Infantry Division and several separate special operations organizations.

During his military career he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Parachutist Badge, Glider Badge as well as many commendations and medals to include 6 Battle Stars, the Presidential Unit Citation and the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Retiring from the military in 1966, Roger took employment with the State of Michigan as a corrections officer and retired in 1988. Roger enjoyed his retirement years and worked at the BSA-Yamaha Motorcycle Shop in Marquette.

He is survived by two daughters, Catherine Ann LaMar of Long Bottom, OH; Gina Lee Mora of Tampa, FL; a son Joseph H. (Carnie M.) Covert, who resides in Northport; six grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

His loving wife of 56 years, Marilyn A. Rose Covert, and a son, Roger James, preceded him in death.

Roger requested that he be cremated and no service to be conducted.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Marquette Salvation Army, 1009 W. Baraga Ave, Marquette, MI, 49885.

Arrangements are with the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.
