Glen Lake jayvees open with 40-8 win

The Glen Lake junior varsity football team beat East Jordan 40-8 in its season opener.

Tyler Leveque led the way with three scores, including a 60-yard run. He finished with 229 yards rushing on 16 carries.

David Grzedienik, who had an interception, also caught a touchdown pass.

Joe Jacklin led the defense with seven tackles.

The Lakers were scheduled to play yesterday at Charlevoix.

Mary Kent Ireland won the Tuesday Women’s League game of reverse crossover at Sugar Loaf The Old Course this week.

Suzanne Franko was second and Iva Stowe and Doreen Dean tied for third.

Ireland also claimed the chip in on No. 12 and was closest to the pin on No. 18.

Last week, the Tuesday Women’s League at Sugar Loaf The Old Course raised $1,750 for the Mammogram Assistance Fund.

The Tuesday morning Senior Shooters Golf League at The Leelanau Club at Bahle Farms held its championship tournament.

Mike Cherry and Tom Sullivan, who tied at 134, were Flight A winners in the championship in which the two best net scores out of three weeks were counted.

Bill Woldfersheim took Flight B with a score of 138.
