Northport conflicts of interest in the eye of the beholder

To the Editor:

I just want to be certain that I understand this. The company that did the needs study for the Northport sewer, was also hired to design and build it. No conflict of interest there, ummm, OK ... I guess.

A member of the planning commission is involved with two rather big developments, needs approval from the planning commission for both, gets approval from the planning commission for both. No conflict of interest there, ummm ... well? OK ... I suppose.

You hear a rumor, (gee that’s rare for Northport), that a current council woman’s husband is part of the Leelanau Forum, scream conflict of interest, and pretty much call for her to resign.

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with you. I do see a conflict of interest.

The fact that you no longer have a majority vote on the council, conflicts with your interests.
