Kids can create weather stations

A “Family Science Saturday” scheduled at the Inland Seas Education Center will allow families to experience the wonders of weather.

Between 10 a.m. and noon, children will have a chance to become meteorologists by creating their own weather stations. They will test water clarity in Suttons Bay, take surface water temperature, air temperatures and wind speed. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather.

The event will also include a demonstration of rainmaking inside the center. The cost is $5 per child and reservations can be made by phoning Taryn Carew at 271-3077 or emailing her at tcarew@schoolship.org. Recommended ages are 5-12.

Starting June 27, the Inland Seas Education Association (ISEA) will start offering Family Science Friday. Weekly events will be held from 10 a.m. until noon. More information is available at www.schoolship.org.
