Dunes League plays game of two best balls

Nan Stewart, Kathy Fonte, Dorothy Manning and Rae Dumke posted a 61 to win the Dunes Women’s Golf League game of two best balls per foursome.

Pat Spring, Mae Van Houzen, and Barb Fowler were second, two strokes back. Kay Smith, Dawn Baldwin, Pat Butterfield, and Betty Weaver were third with a 66.

Marge Pickell and Doreen Dean tied for first with a 40 in the game of sumer of pars 3s and 5s holes in the Tuesday Women’s League at SugarLoaf The Old Course.

Linda Cherne was second at 41. Dianne Palmer and Judy Leask tied for third with 42s.

Grace Keeble, Betsy Schmidt, Kathy Angus and Gretchen Sprout won the Ladies Day 18-hole tournament at the Leland Country Club.

The foursome shot an 18-under par to win a $16 shop credit per player.

Kathy Ganley, Jean Humble, Laura Paine and Lynda Leugers took second, three strokes back.

Mary Wenstrup, Joanne Burnham, Jan Roth and Peg Meeker were third at minus 14. Roth won the closest to the pin contest.

Bill Bryant, Ted Sichler, Merrill Almquist and Buzz Finke (blind draw) won the Men’s Day, 9-hole tournament at the Leland Country Club.

The foursome shot a 6-under par to earn a $11 shop credit per player. Bill Peace, Finke, Loren Mann and Dave Sprout were two strokes back.
