Cedar man critical after crash

A 27-year-old Cedar area man remained in critical condition at Munson Medical Center yesterday after a one-car crash Saturday night in Cleveland Township.

Sheriff’s deputies, along with Cedar Fire and Rescue and Glen Lake Fire and Rescue, were dispatched at 11:31 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of Maple City Road and M-22.

Upon arrival, deputies located a 2004 Jeep Cherokee thattersection and crashed into several trees, police reports state.

The driver, alone in the vehicle, was pinned in the car and treated after he was extricated from the wreckage.

He was transported to Munson Medical Center for treatment of lifethreatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation showed the vehicle was traveling northbound on Maple City Road and failed to stop at the T-intersection with M-22.

The vehicle continued northbound leaving the roadway and striking several trees.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. The driver’s identity has not been released.
