Timberwood Dr., Traverse City — Sentenced in Recovery Court to one year 90 days in jail with work release, followed by one year probation for drunk driving, third offense; eligible for residential treatment after 27 days; not to consume or possess alcohol, illegal or non-prescribed drugs, medical marijuana; not to reside where alcohol, illegal drugs, firearms/weapons present; not to enter bars or casinos with work exception; not to operate a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol, illegal drugs; to attend 90 12-step meetings in 90 days and obtain sponsor, followed by four meetings per week; inpatient treatment; twice daily PBT; random drug testing four times per month; discretionary urine screens; to pay fines and costs of $1,650.

Katie L. Stasewich, 25, 6622 Holly Lane, Gladstone — Pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace; sentenced to pay fines and costs of $627.

Roberto Ramirez, 51, 522 S. St. Joseph, Apt. B, Lake Leelanau — Pleaded guilty to driving on a suspended license, second offense; sentenced to pay fines and costs of $425.

Mathew M. Henslee, 32, 1605 Bayhill Ter., Traverse City — Pleaded not guilty to drunken driving; bond continued; requesting court-appointed attorney; pretrial conference set for Sept. 20.

I have seen all manner of illness, acquired and otherwise over many years in health care. Alcohol, and it's chosen use, is by far the destroyer of countless lives. Driving cars and trucks (loaded weapons) down the road, drunk. Possessing fire arms, and using them, drunk. Fine young men and women throwing any chance of fulfilling their potential because of abuse and use of alcohol. It's simple. Don't.
