Glen Lake News: Weather holds up around Glen Lake as seasons change

The scenery is changing and the weather is beautiful. This has been a great season.

This year we can look forward to a “Halloween Pumpkin Festival,” according to the Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce. The festival, set for Saturday, Oct. 22, will include a pumpkin carving, costume contest and fun for kids and I’m sure adults. This will be the week before the annual trick or treating in Glen Arbor. Fun in the fall.

It’s the Empire Hill Climb on Saturday. The Hill Climb is held on Wilco road and is a half mile long with eight turns. Fun to watch.

The latest winner of the Empire Lions Club Lucky Thirteen was Denise Shubert, congrats.

The Glen Arbor Art Association has announced its cast for the upcoming play at the Reader’s Theater, “Radio Days” which is two playlets with the first being a comedy and the second a mystery. Sounds like fun. the performances will be held on October 14 and 15.

Happy belated birthday wishes to Marilyn Rank of Little Glen, hope you had an outstanding day. And happy birthday wishes to Karen Kramer.

The Glen Arbor Artist Association will hold “Fall Afternoon Art,” which provides children a variety of art materials and the opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of other young creators. Experienced instructors will help children tap into their creative abilities. Registration is required by Sept. 30. Tuition assistance is available.

Glen Lake students may ride the bus to the Art Association after school with parents picking them up at the GAAA after class. Instructors are Margaret Weeks and Leah Lawson. Visit the GAAA website for more information and times.

Because the weather is still so nice, we have many visitors and many, many bicycles. Please be careful and enjoy.

I find it hard to believe I am even saying Go Cubs, but it has been so long ago I can’t remember when I would have said it last.
