Public Notices For Leelanau County

Michigan law requires local governments to inform their citizenry through public notices published in newspapers of record for their communities. These notices provide residents with an easy path for following the work of their elected officials. Public notices for Leelanau County can also be accessed online at Leelanaunews.com.

 Suttons Bay Village Council will conduct a public hearing on Monday, October 17, 2016, at 5:30 p.m.

 Kasson Township accepting bids for two year service contract for snow removal.

 Theola K. Hemphill Irrevocable Trust is requesting a public hearing to modify a previously approved Site Condominium with the Glen Arbor Township Planning Commission.

 The Suttons Bay Township Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.

 Business and Economic Development Discussion Group The Village of Northport Planning Commission is updating the Village Master Plan.

 The Leland Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider a request by Amoritas Holdings, LLC for a Special Land Use Permit.

 The draft Recreation Plan for Leelanau Township is available for public review beginning October 12, 2016.

Suttons Bay Village Council Notice to the Public

Public Notice is hereby given that the Suttons Bay Village Council will conduct a public hearing on Monday, October 17, 2016, at 5:30 p.m., at the Suttons Bay Village Meeting Room located at 321 St. Joseph Street, Suttons Bay, MI 49682.

THE PROPERTY TAX MILLAGE RATE PROPOSED TO BE LEVIED TO SUPPORT THE PROPOSED BUDGET WILL BE THE SUBJECT OF THIS HEARING.

Kasson Township Accepting Bids

The Kasson Township Board is accepting bids for a two year service contract for the following: 1) Snow Removal at the Kasson Township Hall and the Fire Suppression Well in Maple City. The bid should state the per incident cost for snow removal and if that cost includes any incidentals such as sanding.

Bids may be sent to Clerk, PO BOX 62, Maple City, MI 49664-0062 and must be received by 3 PM on Thursday, October 27, 2016.

Public Notice

TO ALL CREDITORS:

The Settlor, Bertha G. Skeba, who lived at 3088 South Lake Leelanau Drive, Lake Leelanau, Michigan 49653 died April 10, 2016. There is no personal representative of the Grantor’s estate to whom Letters of Authority have been issued.

Suttons Bay Township Notice Of Public Hearing

The Suttons Bay Township Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing at 6:30pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Suttons Bay Township office at 95 W Fourth St., Suttons Bay, MI.

The Planning Commission will receive public comment on a proposed amendment to the Zoning Ordinance. The proposed amendment is housekeeping in nature and will amend Article 2 Definitions, Article 3 General Provisions, Article 4 Agricultural District, Article 5 Residential District and Article 23 Administration and Enforcement.

The text of the proposed amendment may be reviewed at the Suttons Bay Township Office during normal business hours or online at www.leelanau.cc/suttonsbaytwp.asp. Village of Northport Master Plan

Business and Economic Development Discussion Group

The Village of Northport Planning Commission is updating the Village Master Plan. The updated master plan will be a guide to help shape local land use and other community decisions. It will prepare the Village for changing needs and will allow for informed decisions about transportation, housing, infrastructure, recreation, land use, the economy, and overall quality of life. As part of the Master Plan update, the Planning Commission will host a series of Master Plan Discussion Groups to gather ideas and information about specific community topics.

All are welcome and invited to the next Master Plan Discussion Group, which will be held Tuesday, October 18th and will be focused on the issues regarding Business and Economic Development. Subsequent meetings with various other emphases will be held on November 15th, December 20th, January 17th, February 21st, March 21st, and April 18th all at 7p.m., at the Leelanau Township Fire Hall located at 100 West 8th Street, Northport, MI 49670.

Leland Township Planning Commission Notice to the Public

The Leland Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at 7 p.m. to consider a request by Amoritas Holdings, LLC for a Special Land Use Permit (Off Site Tasting Room), per Leland Township Zoning Ordinance Article 17 and Article 18.25.c. Plaintiff, having filed an Ex Parte Motion for Alternate Service Pursuant to MCR 2.105(I) with this Court, and the Court having reviewed Plaintiff’s Ex Parte Motion and attached exhibits, and the Court being otherwise fully advised in the premises;

NOW THEREFORE:

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that service of process by Plaintiff on Defendant in the above-captioned matter be done by publication of this Order, and mailing pursuant to the requirements of MCR 2.106(D) as follows:

(D) Publication of Order; Mailing. If the court orders notice by publication, the defendant shall be notified of the action by

(1) publishing a copy of the order once each week for 3 consecutive weeks, or for such further time as the court may require, in a newspaper in the county where the defendant resides, if known, and if not, in the county where the action is pending; and

(2) sending a copy of the order to the defendant at his or her last known address by registered mail, return receipt requested, before the date of the last publication.

(a) The above cause of action involves an action to quiet title to real estate filed by Plaintiff against Defendant for real estate located in Leelanau County, Michigan; and

(b) Defendant must file a written Answer to Plaintiff’s Complaint filed in the above cause of action within twenty-eight (28) days of the date of the last publication of notice of the above cause of action as required by this Order or within twenty-eight (28) days of the date of service by registered mail, whichever date is later, and

(c) The Answer by Defendant must be filed in the Leelanau County Circuit Court located at 8527 E. Government Center Drive, Suttons Bay, MI 49682;

(d) A failure by Defendant to file an Answer to Plaintiff’s Complaint within the time periods stated above will result in the entry of a Default in favor of Plaintiff and the entry of a Default Judgment in favor of Plaintiff awarding Plaintiff clear title to the real property which is the subject matter of the above cause of action.

Being the same property conveyed to Jerome A. Bazin and Julie Wilhelm, husband and wife by deed dated 8-6-98 and recorded 8-10-98 in Deed Book 483, page 512, in the Office of the Recorder of Leelanau County, Michigan.

The redemption period shall be 6 months from the date of such sale, unless determined abandoned in accordance with MCLA 600.3241a, in which case the redemption period shall be 30 days from the date of such sale.

If the property is sold at foreclosure sale under Chapter 32 of the Revised Judicature Act of 1961, pursuant to MCL 600.3278 the borrower will be held responsible to the person who buys the property at the mortgage foreclosure sale or to the mortgage holder for damaging the property during the redemption period.
