County Dates

Spaghetti anyone?

Support a good cause — Leelanau County youth activities — while eating great food at the 16th annual Italian Dinner being held from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday in the Suttons Bay High School cafeteria. The dinner is hosted by the Suttons Bay Leelanau Rotary Club and supports several programs for area young people, including Leelanau 4-H, Boy Scouts and scholarships for county students to take trips with Inland Seas.

Concert helps community

Don’t miss the Empire Area Community Emergency Fund concert being held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Boonedocks in Glen Arbor. This month listen to Dennis Palmer & Friends. Palmer in 1988 won a national songwriting contest. Admission is free, but free-will offerings are accepted and used to support people in the community who need help with making their rent, paying a doctor bill or filling up the propane tank.

Harvesting solar energy

Take a tour of local homes and businesses that have gone solar from 1-4 p.m. Sunday during the Solar Harvest Tour. Detailed information and docents will be on hand at each of seven locations to answer questions. Locations include a golf course, a winery, a cheesemaker and various solar-powered homes. For more information call 386-5680.
